Ajattelin pitkään, etten missään tapauksessa haluaisi häihini kakkosmekkoa, mutta sitten keksinkin sille käyttötarkoituksen, joka tuntui juuri meidän häihimme sopivalta.
Useimmiten morsiamen kakkosmekko hankitaan ymmärtääkseni hääpäivän iltaa varten, ja se vaihdetaan päälle jatkovaiheen alkaessa esimerkiksi siksi, että pitkä laahus ei olisi tanssimisen tiellä. Joillakin morsiamilla taas on yksi mekko vihkimisessä ja toinen hääjuhlassa. Tällöin kyse voi olla siitä, että vihkimiseen valittu puku on liian epämukava pidempään käytettäväksi, tai morsiamen tekee ihan yksinkertaisesti mieli kahta erityylistä hääpukua, ja hän päättää valitsemisen sijaan saada molemmat. Itse olen kuitenkin koko ajan ajatellut, että koska hääpukuaan pääsee käyttämään vain hääpäivänä, haluan pitää sitä ylläni koko päivän.
Meidän häämme kuitenkin jatkuvat vielä seuraavana päivänä brunssin merkeissä. Samana päivänä otamme myös hääkuvaajamme kanssa lisää potretteja, joiden on tarkoitus olla hääpäivän potretteja rennompia, kun juhlat on jo juhlittu ja jännitys lauennut. Näihin tilanteisiin tarvitsen tietystikin jonkinlaisen asun, eikä ollut ihan yksinkertainen kysymys, minkälainen sen kannattaisi olla.
Kihlajaiskuvissamme käyttämäni kesämekko oli yksi vahva vaihtoehto, mutta asiaa pitkään mietittyäni tulin siihen tulokseen, että haluaisin näyttää vielä hääviikonlopun sunnuntainakin morsiamelta. Aloin etsiä lyhythelmaista valkoista pitsimekkoa, joka toisi häiden yhteydessä mieleen hääpuvun mutta jota voisin käyttää myöhemmin muissakin juhlissa – joskaan ei toki häävieraana.
Päädyin kiinalaisen JJ’s Housen sivuille ja löysin heidän valikoimastaan aivan ihanan lyhythelmaisen hääpuvun. Puvussa oli useita silmääni viehättäviä yksityiskohtia, joita varsinaisessa hääpuvussani ei ole. Hääpukunihan on valittu jo vuonna 2019, ja vaikka se on edelleen minulle se kaikkein ihanin The Dress, tässä välissä hääpuvuissa on tullut muotiin useita yksityiskohtia, joista pidän myös todella paljon. Oli ihana ajatus, että saisin kakkosmekon ansiosta joitakin niistäkin tuotua mukaan hääviikonloppuumme.
Erityisesti ihastuin ajatukseen potrettikuvauksesta lyhythelmaisessa hääpuvussa. Lyhythelmaisessa puvussa voisin kahlata rantavedessä, hypätä Samulin reppuselkään ja tehdä kaikkea muutakin sellaista, mitä bostonilainen luottokuvaajamme Marina Baklanova kannusti meitä tekemään kihlajaiskuvauksessamme. Samuli ei yleisesti ottaen viihdy kameran edessä, mutta rannalla hupsutellessamme hän rentoutui, ja kihlajaiskuvistamme tuli aivan ihania. Löytämäni mekko sai minut haaveilemaan hääkuvista, joissa olisi samanlaista kesäisen rantapäivän tunnelmaa mutta joissa näyttäisin silti kiistatta morsiamelta.
Mekon tilaaminen Kiinasta herätti minussa ristiriitaisia tunteita. Tekijänoikeuksien kunnioittaminen on minulle tärkeää, enkä haluaisi tukea esimerkiksi yritystä, joka kopioisi nimekkäiden brändien suunnittelijoiden malleja ja myisi niitä polkuhintaan. Yritin selvitellä, toimiiko JJ’s House tällä epäeettisellä periaatteella, mutta en saanut asiasta selvyyttä suuntaan enkä toiseen. Heitä oli syytetty tällaisesta toiminnasta muutamissa nettikeskusteluissa, mutta lukemieni syytösten tueksi ei ollut esitetty perusteluja, joten kirjoitusten taustalla on saattanut olla pelkkä yleinen ennakkoluulo kaikkia kiinalaisia nettivaatekauppoja kohtaan. Valitsemani mekon kuvalla ei Googlen kuvahaulla löytynyt muita kuin JJ’s Housen kuvia, eli mikään ei ainakaan viitannut siihen, että he olisivat käyttäneet markkinoinnissaan netistä varastettua kuvaa. Google ei myöskään löytänyt muita niin samannäköisiä mekkoja, että se olisi todistanut tekijänoikeusrikkomuksesta.
Lopulta päätin tilata mekon. En odottanut sen olevan läheskään yhtä laadukas kuin ihana Pronovias-hääpukuni, mutta myöskään laatuvaatimukseni häiden jälkeisen päivän brunssimekolle eivät ole yhtä korkealla. Pakettia sai odotella muutaman viikon, ja jännitin jonkin verran sitä, osoittautuisiko mekko hintansa arvoiseksi ja olisinko siihen tyytyväinen. Hieman ennen paketin saapumista satuin näkemään Instagramissa hääpukuneuvontaa-tilin jakaman kauhutarinan halpasivustolta tilatusta aivan hirveästä hääpuvun irvikuvasta.
Kun oma mekkoni viimein saapui, saatoin huokaista helpotuksesta. Mekko oli todella kaunis ja vastasi suurelta osin odotuksiani. Sen mitat eivät täysin vastanneet antamiani mittoja, mutta tiesin ompelijani voivan korjata sen täydellisen istuvaksi. Myöskään värisävy ei vastannut odotuksiani, mutta asiaa muutaman päivän sulateltuani osasin jo ajatella, että vaikka olin luulin valinneeni ja kuvitellut mielessäni toisenlaisen sävyn, myös minulle toimitettu sävy sopisi minulle ja meidän brunssillemme oikein hyvin.
Valitin mitoista ja väristä JJ’s Houselle, ja he vastasivat asiakaslupauksensa mukaisesti minulle vuorokauden sisällä. Minulle luvattiin hyvitykseksi kolmasosa mekon hinnasta ja suureksi yllätyksekseni maksettiin lopulta lähes puolet mekon hinnasta. Näin mekosta tuli lopulta vielä selvästi edullisempi kuin mihin olin varautunut.
