Kerroin aiemmin blogissani, että minulle oli alusta lähtien selvää se, kuka saa kaason kunniatehtävän häissäni. Kyseinen rooli meni ainoalle siskolleni Ellille, joka on elämäni tärkein ihminen. Kehitysvammainen siskoni otti tehtävän vastaan ilolla ja suurella liikutuksella. Hänen ensimmäinen, hiljainen kysymyksensä olikin ”haittaako, jos siellä häissä itkettää?”. Kun vastasin, että ei haittaa yhtään, jos liikuttuu, vastasi hän pontevasti ja kyyneleet silmissään, että siinä tapauksessa hän suostuu kaasoksi.
Koska siskoni ei ole tanssinut vanhojen tansseja eikä ole naimisissa, halusin suoda hänelle prinsessapäivän. Halusin, että siskoni saa juuri sellaisen mekon mistä on aina haaveillut. Siskoni tuntien oli siis alusta alkaen selvää, että mekko tulisi olemaan todellinen prinsessaunelma – iso ja vaaleanpunainen.
Unelmien asu löytyi nopeasti
Kerroin jo aiemmin, miten otin yhteyttä Helsingissä Mannerheimintiellä sijaitsevaan Meccoon, koska olin todella vaikuttunut siitä, kuinka monenlaisia mekkoja heidän valikoimissaan oli ja kuinka mittatilauskoko, muutokset ja eri värit sisältyivät mekkojen hintoihin. Kysyin, olisiko heillä kiinnostusta olla mukana järjestämässä siskolleni hänen unelmiensa mekkoa. Suureksi onnekseni Meccossa innostuttiin ideasta ja luvattiin tarjota siskolleni ainutlaatuisen upea kaasonmekko!
Kävimme sovittamassa erilaisia mekkoja keväällä ja valitsimme mallin ja värin. Valinta oli selvä siskolleni sillä hetkellä, kun hän sai päälleen röyhelöisen ja kimaltelevan unelmamekon. Tilasimme mekon hänen haluamassaan mallissa ja hänen valitsemassaan värissä.
Mekko saapui sovittuna ajankohta täysin siskoni mittojen mukaan virheettömästi ja laadukkaasti valmistettuna vanhempieni kotiin. Äitini kertoi siskoni olleen valtavan onnellinen saatuaan mekon päälleen. Hän olisi luultavasti halunnut pukeutua mekkoon hääpäiväämme asti ja nukkuakin se päällä, mutta puku laitettiin kuitenkin odottamaan juhlapäivää.

Ja voi kuinka kaunis siskoni hääpäivänä olikaan! Meccon kimalteleva unelmapuku hehkui auringossa, Riina Puontin tekemä meikki ja kampaus pukivat siskoani täydellisesti ja kokonaisuuden kruunasivat ruusukullan väriset glitter-lenkkarit, jotka tukivat hyvin siskoni jalkoja. Olen monesti kutsunut vinoilla silmillä, veikeällä hymyllä ja pitkillä ripsillä varustettua siskoani keijukaisprinsessaksi – ja tällä kertaa hän näytti siltä vielä enemmän kuin tavallisesti!
Taisi myös siskoni olla aika vaikuttunut minun tyylistäni, tässä hänen ilmeensä, kun hän näki minut ensimmäistä kertaa tuona päivänä:
Siskoni oli yllättävän tyyni ennen vihkimisen alkua. Alttarille hän käveli morsiusneitojen etunenässä klassisen arvokkaasti.
Vihkimisen aikana siskoni kuitenkin kyynelehti vuolaasti, ja ajoittain otinkin hänen olkapäästään kiinni rauhoitellakseni häntä. Tunteellinen reaktio oli odotettavissa, olihan kyseessä suuri päivä myös siskolleni ja hänet tunnetaan muutenkin perheemme ”tunteellisena siilinä”. Siskoni vierellä seisovalla Heidillä oli onneksi homma hyvin hanskassa, onhan hän toiminut nuorempana jopa siskoni tukihenkilönä. Heidin rauhoittava käsi Ellin olkapäällä sai siskoni pysymään jokseenkin kasassa ja onneksi myös nenäliinoja löytyi. Jälkikäteen, hääkuvia katsoessamme, siskoni väitti kivenkovaan, että ei vuodattanut yhtäkään kyyneltä. Näin siis siitäkin huolimatta, että vuolas kyynelehtiminen oli tallentunut moniin kuviin.
Turvallinen mies
Siskoani oli pelottanut, saako sukunimeni muuttuminen minut muuttumaan kaukaiseksi hänelle. Onneksi hän toivottavasti nyt jo ymmärtää, että nimi on vain muodollisuus, ja että olen hänelle se aivan sama sisko kuin olen tähänkin mennessä ollut. Yksi illan liikuttavimmista hetkistä oli se, kun siskoni antoi minulle ja miehelleni kahden kesken lahjansa. Hän oli valinnut kauniin kehyksen, johon saamme laittaa hääkuvamme ja lisäksi hän luki meille kirjoittamansa runon.
